The Scissortail Award
The Oklahoma Ornithological Society annually recognizes individuals and groups demonstrating outstanding accomplishments in the field of Birds, Nature, and Wildlife Conservation in Oklahoma to ensure that future generations may always appreciate and protect our natural resources (This award was previously known as the Certificate of Merit).
The OOS considers outstanding achievements in the following areas as worthy of recognition:

Acquisition, creation, protection, and/or management of habitats used by native Oklahoma birds.

Survey, inventory, and/or monitoring efforts to improve information on the distribution and abundance of native Oklahoma birds.

Forging partnerships among government agencies, businesses, and/or conservation organizations that benefit native Oklahoma birds.

Leadership in teaching others about the conservation of native Oklahoma birds, including formal classroom activities and field trip leadership.

Leadership in the administration of organizations dedicated to the appreciation and conservation of native Oklahoma birds.
The Award can be in one of three categories:

Youth, age 18 and under, demonstrating outstanding accomplishments for the conservation of Birds, Nature, and Wildlife.

Persons demonstrating outstanding accomplishments for the conservation of Birds, Nature, and Wildlife.
-
Groups demonstrating outstanding accomplishments for the conservation of Birds, Nature, and Wildlife.
