2022 OOS Fall Meeting Announcement and Registration

The 2022 Fall OOS Meeting will be held at the Lake Arcadia Conservation Education Area (ACEA), near Edmond, OK, on November 4-5.


Registration and dinner are provided at no-cost to OOS members. Please register by Thursday, November 3, so we can accurately plan catering. Link to online registration. Registration is limited to 200. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER.


 

OOS's own Joe Grzybowski will be the keynote speaker with a talk titled:


"History of Ornithology in Oklahoma: The 200 years from Early Expeditions to Modern Birding."


 

Schedule of Events


Friday November 4

6:30 PM- 10:00 PM……Check in and hang out for outdoor social time at the Lake Arcadia Conservation Education Building on the south side of Lake Arcadia. Come inside to play Wingspan and have fun.



Saturday November 5

  • 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM..... Field Trips around Lake Hefner and Lake Overholser Drive yourself, meet at Prairie Dog Point at Lake Hefner (Google Maps) Field Trip Leaders: Joe Grzybowski, Bill Diffin, Jake Kirkland

  • 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM..... Field Trip on Lake Arcadia Trails Meet by 8:30 am at Lake Arcadia Conservation Education Building on the south side of Lake Arcadia (Google Maps) Parking on the north side of Lake Arcadia is $7 per car; birders are encouraged to car pool from the meeting building. Field Trip Leaders: Jimmy Woodard, Nadine Varner

  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM….. Lunch: On your own.

  • 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM…… Board Meeting (at Lake Arcadia Conservation Education Building) Public welcome to attend.

  • 3:00 PM – 3:30 PM…… Business Meeting (at Lake Arcadia Conservation Education Building) Public welcome to attend.

  • 1:00 PM – 5:30 PM…… Silent Auction

  • 4:00 PM – 4:30 PM…… "Whooping Cranes in Oklahoma" - Mark Howery, ODWC

  • 4:30 PM – 5:00 PM…… "Tracking longspur movements in and out of the Dustbowl Automated Radio-telemetry Network (DARN) study area" - Jeremy Ross, OU

  • 5:00 PM – 5:30 PM…… "A molecular reevaluation of Bewick's wren (Thyomanes bewickii) subspecies of New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas" - Jeffery Roth
